My Working Style

   My approach:

Relaxed, Authentic and

a bit Intuitive.

Each wedding that I photograph is tailored to fit the personality of the couple to be wed. And in my 20 years of experience, I’ve never seen two weddings that are the same. Planning the details of your dream day can bring up a lot of questions, and I’m always here to share ideas, answer your questions, problem-solve, or just chat. If you prefer to work with a planner, I’m also happy to collaborate closely with them.

It’s also worth mentioning…

I lean toward the non-traditional, so if you have any ideas or thoughts that haven’t been mentioned, please make sure to ask—chances are, I’ll be happy to make it happen.

FAQ

Why should I hire you?

If you’ve read this far, there must be something about me that you like. Let’s meet in person and see if there’s a spark—remember, as your photographer, I’ll be around you for the entire day of your wedding. So really, we should hope for some sort of chemistry.

I value Honesty and Authenticity and I'm proud to say that what you see is what you get with me (though it may vary before or after coffee).

After years of working with wedding couples, I know 100% that we—you and I—need to have some kind of connection. Whether it's an easygoing vibe or an actual jive, we need to share mutual trust and respect so that your wedding day remains the focus. If my portfolio or social media feed impresses you, that’s a huge bonus. But if we don’t connect, it could be a disaster. You’re thinking, “Whoa?! Did she just say that?” Yes, yes I did.

There are a million and a half wedding photographers out there, so there’s bound to be at least one who fits as the PB to your J, the cream to your coffee, or the Hendricks to your tonic. You get what I’m saying.

Will you help me to look my best in front of the camera?

I promise I will always guide you to look your best. I’ve done a lot of extracurricular work to hone my posing skills, and once, a long, long time ago, I even attempted to become a print model. I failed miserably because I was terribly awkward in front of the camera. That being said, I’m very sympathetic to the uneasiness of being the subject of a photograph.

What can I expect on the day of the wedding?

Arrival and Preparation

I’ll arrive and begin working as you and your wedding party are getting ready and looking gorgeous.

My approach is to blend in, creating a calm atmosphere so you and your guests feel comfortable. My goal is to stay incognito—that’s my superpower. I may ask you to step near a perfectly lit window once or twice, but for the most part, I’ll be photographing discreetly, looking for candid and meaningful moments between you and your loved ones. If I have a second photographer, one of us will spend time with your partner-to-be. If I’m working solo, I’ll move between both preparation areas, gathering rings, flowers, and dresses to capture the details of your day.

Your Ceremony

During the ceremony, I’ll stay on the outskirts, documenting everything—from you and your love to the tears and laughter of your guests. For moments where three is a crowd, like during your exchange of vows, I use a long lens that allows me to zoom in from a distance. When you look at the images, it will feel as though I was right there beside you, wiping your tears with a handkerchief. But in reality, I was photographing discreetly from the edge of the scene.

Your Portraits

Usually, right after your ceremony, I whisk you away to capture images that show the two of you looking at each other in awe—the look that says, "Holy smokes! This is real!" Or maybe it’s a look that says, "I really need a drink." Either way, I take you somewhere beautiful and private to capture that post-ceremony glow. This only takes about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, your guests are usually enjoying cocktails, and most of the time, they don’t even notice you’re gone

Family and Group Formal Portraits

Hopefully, you have a bossy sister-in-law because I'll likely recruit her to help gather your family and friends for your formal portraits. Beforehand, I'll ask you to provide a list of the groupings you'd like for the portraits. I work quickly and efficiently, as this part of the day isn’t usually a favorite, so time is definitely of the essence.

The Rest of the Celebration

The rest of the day is easy. You eat, drink, love, and be merry while I capture the emotion and beauty of the celebration as it unfolds. The toasts, the hugs, the laughter—the dances with your father, mother, and new lifelong partner in crime. This is where I rely on my intuition and experience as a wedding photographer to capture each unfolding moment. Although I’ve yet to see two weddings that look alike, I’m very familiar with what love, emotion, and happiness look like. And really, aren’t those the main ingredients that make a wedding celebration special?

At the end of the evening, when the chicken dance has been danced and the champagne enjoyed—at that perfect moment when everyone is too immersed in celebration to notice the camera—I’ll finally put my camera down, pack up, and disappear into the night

We’re the perfect fit! How do I book?

Great! I require a 50 percent retainer and a signed contract to ensure I’m yours for the entire day, from beginning to end. Done!

Can we meet before hand?

I prefer to meet in person before your wedding date, if possible. If meeting in person isn’t an option, perhaps we could arrange a FaceTime call. I accept a limited number of weddings each year (no more than two per month), and it’s important to me that you and I connect well—not just on the dance floor, but that we share a genuine rapport, as we’ll be spending the entire day together.

What is included in my wedding day package?

Each pack

  • Engagement, Bridal or Boudoir Session before hand

  • Online password protected gallery and slideshow to share with friends and family (hosted for 1 year)

  • Access to my online store for prints, wall art and more

  • Photo release and digital file permissions

  • Unlimited pre wedding chats over Zoom, WhatsApp, email text or phone

  • Estimated delivery within 4 weeks

How many images can I expect for a wedding?

Anywhere from 600 images and beyond for your wedding day—usually around 1,000 images.

Engagement sessions yield around 50 images. Again, all are edited and print-ready.

How long until I get my images?

4 weeks is stated in my contract, however, I always always try to deliver before then.

Color or Black and white?

I edit a variety of both. It just depends on what the particular image is best suited for. Most of the time the images taken in daylight will be in color with a deliberate few in black and white, while the dancing, strobes and candle light images are usually captured as black and white. If you have a preference we can talk further.

What about Copy Rights? Will I own them?

People often get 'Copy Rights' and 'Printing Rights' confused.

What you want are the printing rights- which are 100 percent yours with my signed print release. Your images are yours to print and frame, post, make an album with and share on social media. What you cannot do is sell them or submit them to be published in a magazine, or otherwise profiting off of my talent. This is because I, the photographer and artist, are the person who would love the fame and great fortunes that accompany selling your wedding portrait to Vogue.

Will I see every image?

No. That would be a huge disappointment for you. Pictures of my feet, the back of a stranger's head, blurry...

Seriously though, I go through each and every image from your wedding, dismissing the ones that I see as 'unsuccessful,' or blurry, poorly exposed, or one of 20 that are of the same subject but that I just wasn't sure I 'got it' with. And of course, those that don't do your looks any justice—i.e., eyes closed, double chin, or exposed areas that shouldn't be exposed.

Is a Second Photographer a necessary expense?

Well now, this one is tricky. I often photograph weddings solo and if I might be so bold as to say- I do a great job at capturing the day and everything that it brought with it. That being said, when I do work with a second photographer, I'm always brought to misty eyes or out loud laughter while editing many of their images. This is because they are photographing from a perspective that I am not, because I can only be in one place at a time. (I am magic, but not that magical)  My second photographer is catching the little things like your grandfather lifting his hanky to his eye and the look in your big brothers eyes when he see's you pause at the top of the isle. Long story short, another photographer will capture even more beauty and love than I can when working solo. But a second photographer is definitely not a necessity.

How much do you require upfront?

I require 50% at the time of booking. My reasoning for this requirement is so I have a strong incentive to hold your wedding day for you, as I schedule a limited number of wedding a month and my schedule fills fast. But I do understand wedding finance woes, and If 50 percent is not possible, we can negotiate that percentage at the time of booking. being a former bride myself- I understand and I'm super versatile and open minded when it comes to this subject.

Will you take a list of shots or do you improvise posing, or both?

I'm versatile here too. If you have specific images as examples that you're in love with and want to use as guidance then absolutely! I don't copy other photographers ideas though, because thats bad Karma and not very ethical. My normal habit is to use starting poses and move on from there. I try -and hope to keep you looking and feeling (the couple) natural and authentic. This is important to me because your wedding day should be remembered as authentic and 100% yours as it unfolds.

Are you insured?

Absolutely, I'm covered. All of my gear is covered and any big mishaps are covered. If your venue requires proof of insurance I'm more than happy to send that to them ahead of time.

Have you photographer at my venue before?

There’s a strong possibility I’ve worked at your venue before. With over 15 years of experience shooting weddings, I'm acquainted to many of the locations in Utah and Yelapa quite well. If I haven't been to your venue, I always make it a point to scout it out beforehand to identify the best spots and lighting, ensuring I’m well-prepared for your big day.
